It’s hard to write a devotional here without giving away any clues to the trivia question. Let’s go with the theme of brevity!

Is there anything wrong with short prayers? Are long prayers better? You can find your answer in the gospels:

And when you pray, do not be like the hypocrites, for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and on the street corners to be seen by others. Truly I tell you, they have received their reward in full. But when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father, who is unseen. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you. And when you pray, do not keep on babbling like pagans, for they think they will be heard because of their many words. Do not be like them, for your Father knows what you need before you ask him.–Matthew 6:5-8

There doesn’t seem to be anything wrong with short or long prayers, but the motives behind our prayers are what the Lord looks at. If we pray long and loud prayers to get attention and admiration from others, there’s probably something wrong. Sometimes the best prayers are the ones that bring us to our knees in awe and childlike humility and they can be as short as “God I need you!”
