To celebrate our NEW How We Got the Bible Series, we’re also celebrating the birthdays of the folks that God has used to get the Bible to where it is today!

Desiderius Erasmus
b. Oct. 27 1466

Erasmus, a priest and Greek scholar, published a new Greek edition and more accurate Latin translation of the New Testament in 1516. His goal was that everyone be able to read the Bible, from the farmer in the field to the weaver at the loom. Erasmus’ Greek text forms the basis of the “textus receptus” and is used later by Martin Luther, William Tyndale, and the King James translators. Happy birthday Erasmus!
