Most nativity scenes often show the three wisemen kneeling next to the manager, presenting their gifts of frankincense, myrrh, and gold to baby Jesus. But, who were these men? What was their journey to Bethlehem like? Were they really there at the time of Jesus’ birth? Enjoy learning more about the three wise men and their journey to Bethlehem with this week’s Free eChart. Featuring a full-color map with possible travel routes of the Magi and a map of Jerusalem at the time of Jesus’ birth, this free eChart is packed with fascinating facts that will enrich your understanding of the beloved Christmas story, such as:

  • The 3 wise men followed ancient caravan routes that were possibly used by Abraham.
  • The three wise men were not present the night of Jesus’ birth as many Nativity plays depict.
  • When the Magi were warned in a dream not to return to Jerusalem, they took an alternate travel route. But, Herod had more than eleven different fortresses and palaces throughout Judea and Samaria. So, even their alternate travel route may have dangerously taken them passed some of Herod’s fortresses.

“…Wright’s atlas has so much more than the standard atlases on the market. It includes overlays for many of the maps that show modern borders and cities. It also includes many present-day photographs, as well as illustrations and timelines. But the greatest feature is the running background and cultural commentary which makes it read more like an illustrated history book than a standard Bible atlas…”— Steve Lucas, customer review on Amazon

2 Thoughts on “FREE eChart: The Journey of the 3 Wise Men

  1. I am not against using free samples to encourage purchases of resources. It is a good way to let people see what is available. However, this site mentions a free map of the wisemen’s travel, then every link I click to get there takes me to a page with a book that I can purchase and no free map.
Please don’t offer something that you are not willing to make readily available!
