Week of Prayer: Praying for National Leaders

814God’s Word urges us to pray and seek Him in unity. On May 7th, our country will come to the Lord with our prayers, petitions, and requests for the National Day of Prayer. At Rose, we’re making it a week-long event and today we are focusing on praying for our country’s leaders

“I urge that entreaties and prayers, petitions and thanksgivings be made on behalf of all men, for kings and all who are in authority, in order that we may lead a tranquil and quiet life in all godliness and dignity.” (1 Tim 2:1-2)

Regardless of whether or not you agree with the politicians elected in office, we are urged to pray on behalf of ALL — we are not separate from the influence of political decisions and this warrants our prayerful attention. These prayers are to secure lives in “godliness and dignity” so doesn’t that mean it’s just as important to pray for the politicians and leaders that you are not in agreement with? I certainly think so. Here are some things you can pray:

  1. That the Lord inspires revelation of true godliness and dignity to those in office
  2. Corruption to be exposed and God’s justice and mercy will be carried out
  3. Godly wisdom, guidance, and discernment to be bestowed on leaders
  4. Protection for and perseverance of righteous leaders in office

Write down prayer requests as you think of them and continue to lift them up to God in faith.
